5 Simple Ways to Upgrade Your Bathroom on a Budget
Remodeling your bathroom doesn’t always have to break the bank or be unusable for a long period of time. On a strict budget, it’s best to work with what you got and keep your original layout. You’d be surprised how different you can make your bathroom appear! Sometimes just a simple fix or replacement can bring new life to your bathroom. Below is a list of a few budget friendly and even DIY projects to bring you inspiration.
Replace your shower fixtures!
Get rid of your old rusty and spotted shower head for something that really elevates your bathroom aesthetic AND is functional! If your budget allows it, get a shower head kit with a handheld! These work so well for quick body showers and make cleaning your shower easier! Depending on the rest of your bathroom aesthetic, we recommend going with square fixtures if you have a really modern taste and if you have a softer, traditional look, you may want to go with circular shapes. Rain heads have been in trend for quite a while and tie everything together. However, we’ve had customers who like more pressure and claim rain heads aren’t their thing which is okay! It’s easy to find alternatives online these days! There’s some with angled necks and different pressure settings that are more suitable.

2. Upgrade Vanity Lights and Mirrors
If you have a double sink vanity, opt for the 2 mirror and 2 vanity light look. We do it all the time in our customer’s homes. It lends more character and sense of style to your bathroom. It allows more room to play around with matching the color finish with your faucets, hardware and towel accessories to keep everything uniform.
For this remodel, we stuck to our star player here which is the brushed gold finish. Brushed gold looks amazing and in harmony with warm tones like browns and beiges/creams.
3. Maximize Your Space with Shelving
Floating shelves work both as decor and storage. It leaves your space open and organized. Pair with plants (no. 5 on this list) and woven decor, you have the ultimate boho dream of a bathroom.
4. Refresh with New Paint!
You’d be surprised how much paint can transform a room. Dull colors can really dim your space and make a lot of unpleasant shadows. Brighten up your space with earthy and lighter colors. We encourage customers who are up to it to do an accent color. Blues, greens and browns make a great accent color. Greige (beige + gray) like our favorite and most used in our remodels city loft by Sherwin Williams (pictured below) is so versatile and easy for adding on accents.
5. Add Plants!
Sometimes you have to stop thinking so hard about changing or upgrading your bathroom. Adding plants is accessible, easy and great for our health altogether! Plants give us oxygen and immediately make us feel refreshed.
